The association fully supports a tenants desire to remain in their property but must balance this against budgetary constraints and future use of the property.
Requests for aids and adaptions will be dealt with as follows and should be accompanied by detail from an occupational therapist (OT).
Minor Aids (those which can be easily removed from the premises after the tenant has left)
Internal – will be dealt with in date order
External – will be assessed by the Customer Services Manager. Occasionally a request may have a detrimental effect on other properties. In the case of such a rare instance the request will be denied and the tenant and the Occupational Therapist written to accordingly.
Major Adaptations (those which require major works and are permanent fixtures within the dwelling)
Will only be considered in ground floor properties where easy access for those with mobility problems is possible. No major adaptions will be considered above the ground floor – tenants will instead be advised to go onto the Kent Homechoice allocation system to move to more suitable ground floor accommodation.
